ASSOCIATE Professor Ana Olga Mocumbi

Dr. Mocumbi is an Associate Professor of Cardiology at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Affiliated Professor at the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington and the Lead Researcher at the Non-Communicable Diseases Division at Instituto Nacional de Saúde.

Her career focuses on poverty-related chronic diseases, particularly neglected cardiovascular diseases, particularly working on task-shifting and the incorporation of new technologies into improvement of care provision and research in low-income settings. Her main research interests are social determinants of health, cardiomyopathies, rheumatic heart disease, heart failure in children, and women’s cardiovascular health.

She is an active member of the Pan African Society of Cardiology (Co-Chair of the Taskforce for Access to Reproductive Health Services for Women with Cardiovascular Disease), Co-Chair of the World Heart Federation Science Committee, and is Co-Chair of the Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries Poverty Network.
