Dr Danika Hill

Dr Danika Hill is a Laboratory Head at WEHI, working to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underpin robust responses to vaccination and infection. Dr Hill has a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) from the University of Adelaide, and a PhD from the University of Melbourne.

From 2015, Danika was a Postdoc at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge, before joining Monash University in 2020. In 2023 she established her independent laboratory at Monash University, before relocating her laboratory to WEHI in 2026.

Dr Hill’s research aims to transform vaccine development and develop novel therapies for infectious disease by advancing our understanding of the immune mechanisms that drive optimal immune responses or contribute to immunopathology.

She focusses on complex pathogens of global significance where improved vaccines are needed (e.g., malaria, influenza, and shingles) or where no vaccine currently exists (e.g., Streptococcus pyogenes).
