Grace Androga

Dr Grace Androga is a Wellcome Early Career Researcher at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Research Programme (MLW), where she is part of the Vaccines Theme Group. Her research spans microbiology, molecular diagnostics and genomics, with a particular interest in translating laboratory science into practical tools for infectious disease diagnosis, surveillance and prevention.

Through her Wellcome Early Career Award, she leads a multi-country research programme investigating the burden, molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance of bacterial infections across Africa. Her wider research focuses on developing and evaluating molecular approaches to improve the diagnosis and surveillance of infectious diseases.

Grace is also a member of the SAVAC Immunoassay Technical Advisory Working Group, contributing to efforts to strengthen assays that support Group A Streptococcus vaccine development. She is particularly interested in ensuring that advances in diagnostics and vaccine development are relevant and accessible across diverse populations and settings.
