Dr Kristen Danforth

Kristen Danforth is a Research Scientist in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Lecturer in the School of Public Health.

Dr. Danforth’s research focuses on application of implementation science principles and methods to improve the delivery of health policies and programs in low- and middle-income countries, with a specialization in noncommunicable diseases.

She leads implementation science work on the ADUNU trial (funded by NIH and Coefficient Giving) and SHIELD Strategically Focused Research Network (American Heart Association), examining patient, provider, and systems determinants of and novel strategies to support successful scale up of rheumatic heart disease care within the public health systems.

She also supports studies examining the use of data for NCD, mental health, and UHC policy decision-making as well as AHA’s Health Equity Research Network integration of echocardiographic screening in primary care settings for the White Mountain Apache Tribe in eastern Arizona. Dr. Danforth received her PhD in Global Health from the University of Washington and her MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
