Taariq Salie

Taariq is a PhD candidate at the Cape Heart Institute, University of Cape Town, South Africa, under the supervision of Professor Mark Engel.

His research focuses on improving the prevention of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) through two complementary approaches: identifying naturally acquired Strep A correlates of protection to inform vaccine development, and identifying blood-based protein biomarkers for the diagnosis of RHD
