DR Ya Jankey Jagne

Dr. Ya Jankey Jagne is a postdoctoral immunologist at the MRC Unit The Gambia at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), where she co-leads research on the immunology of Group A Streptococcus (GAS). Her research focuses on advancing the understanding of immune responses to infectious diseases and vaccination in children, particularly in low-resource settings.

Her current research explores the immune responses associated with GAS skin and pharyngeal carriage and infection among Gambian children. Through this research, she aims to identify potential correlates of protection that can support and accelerate the development of effective GAS vaccines. Her work aims to contribute to improved strategies for preventing infectious diseases that disproportionately affect children in resource-limited populations.
