Dr Anita Saxena

Dr Anita Saxena joined the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1985 as a faculty and continued there for over 36 years till superannuation in November 2021 as Dean Academics, Chief of Cardiothoracic Centre and head of the department of Cardiology.

Currently Executive Director (Pediatric Cardiology) and Head Non-Invasive Cardiology at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.

Contributed to the advancement of the specialty of Pediatric Cardiology in India. Completed a number of large community-based projects of public health importance related to congenital and rheumatic heart diseases, such as diagnosis of critical heart defects in newborns by use of pulse oximetry, early diagnosis of rheumatic heart disease in school children etc.

Published over 380 research papers, with a citation index of over 10000, h-index of 52 and i10-index of 222. Listed the coveted list of ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ published by Elsevier and Stanford University in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
