Christine Katsuiime

Katusiime Christine is a Ugandan RHD patient advocate, community health champion, and volunteer at the Uganda Heart Institute (UHI). She was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease in 2002 and having undergone heart surgery in India in 2005 sponsored by Gift of Life International, she has turned her personal experience into a commitment to RHD advocacy and community action.

She serves as Chairperson of the RHD Patient Support Group at UHI and is a co-founder of FAAYO Community Heart Health Initiative, supporting awareness, prevention, people and families affected by RHD.

Christine is currently working as a human resource manager with a health-focused NGO in Uganda, committed to improving the wellbeing of communities through healthcare and related social initiatives. Currently she is finalizing her Master’s in Public Health in Health Promotion. She is passionate about amplifying patient voices and using health promotion to strengthen community action towards the prevention and elimination of RHD.
