Jafesi pulle

Jafesi Pulle is a Research Scientist at the Uganda Heart Institute and Senior Research Program Manager at the Rheumatic Heart Disease Research Collaborative in Uganda.

He is also a PhD candidate at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. His doctoral research in implementation science focuses on strengthening the prevention, early detection, and long-term management of rheumatic heart disease through health-system and community-based approaches.

He plays a leading role in the ADUNU program, which integrates RHD screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up within Uganda’s public health system. He has also contributed to the development and national rollout of the ACT Registry and its adoption across Uganda to support standardized patient registration, clinical follow-up, and continuity of RHD care.

His doctoral research examines barriers to patient engagement and the development and evaluation of strategies, including peer support, to improve adherence to secondary antibiotic prophylaxis and sustained engagement in care.

His interests include implementation science, community engagement, health-system strengthening, research ethics, and equitable access to cardiovascular care.
