Dr Steve Shipton

Steve is Head of the Paediatric Cardiology Service at Perth Children’s Hospital and leads the regional paediatric cardiology service for Western Australia.

Steve undertook his foundation training in paediatric cardiology at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, and continued his training in the United Kingdom.

After returning and working as an interventional cardiologist at Red Cross Children’s in Cape Town, he then moved to Abu Dhabi, where they helped develop an interventional paediatric cardiology service for the United Arab Emirates.

Steve now leads the state’s paediatric cardiology service, bringing together tertiary care in Perth with outreach to children and families across Western Australia.
